HAVING
shared a romantic farewell with his girlfriend at a champagne
party, Prince William said a more formal goodbye to his father
yesterday as he prepared for life at Sandhurst.
The
new regime begins at 6am this morning, when the 23-year-old
will be instructed in how to make his own bed, a role normally
performed by his servants at Clarence House.
He
will speak only when spoken to, and have to get used to taking
orders rather than giving them.
Yesterday
he looked sanguine as reporters asked what sort of haircut
he was expecting and replied “short”, running
his hand for the last time through his thinning blonde locks.
The Prince will also have to learn what it is like to follow
in the footsteps of his younger brother: Prince Harry has
already done a year at Sandhurst. More |
As
usual in royalty, another tradition takes place. And as usual,
nothing useful happens. It has been quoted
that William will be treated exactly as
any other private. Yeah right! Just like if there's a war, they'll
risk the first heir to the throne and send him to Iraq. Hmmmm...
suspicion arises. And also the strange 22-week course until
he's promoted, alot quicker than any other private. Pointless |

Japanese
soldiers have been trying to clear heavy snow in the country's
north after cold weather killed at least 70 people.
Soldiers used bulldozers to clear roads and shovels to clear
rooves.
Two neighbourhoods - Tsunan in central Niigata prefecture, and
Sakaemura in neighbouring Nagano prefecture - have been cut
off for two days.
Worst-hit areas saw Japan's heaviest snowfall on record, with
drifts more than three metres (10ft) deep.. More |
Remember
two
weeks ago ?
The southerners were moaning that they had, god forbid, 1.5
inches of snow. Japan has....<does maths>
just under 10 times more snow, causing rooves to collapse
and transport to be paralysed. So they have something real
to moan about. Try looking at this next time you have a snow
flurry.

| Vandals
who broke into and wrecked a northern Mexican primary school
over the Christmas holidays were thoughtful enough to leave
the photocopied mug shot of one of their gang at the scene of
the crime.
Mexican television showed a black-and-white
print on Tuesday of the squashed, chubby face and hands of
a young boy. The photocopy was made at the school in the northern
city of Monterrey and left among smashed chairs and torn books.
Headmistress
Maria del Rosario Gomez told Televisa news it was the third
time the school had been vandalized, and said some of her
own pupils were likely to blame. More
